Designed by Franklin Law founder Ron Franklin, the Duty of Fair Representation Course is a hands on, no frills introduction to Unions’ often cited but rarely understood duty to represent their members fairly. This Course is essential for any Union member who is considering whether or not to file a duty of fair representation complaint. Union representatives who want to get a better understanding of their obligations towards their brothers and sisters should also attend. The Course will focus on duty of fair representation complaints at the Ontario Labour Relations Board. Topics include: (1) the origins of the duty; (2) the Ontario Labour Relations Board; (3) establishing a violation of the duty of fair representation; (4) duty of fair representation remedies; and (5) practical considerations.
